Treating the Symptoms of Fibromyalgia

Taking the Mystery Out of  Fibromyalgia- Fibromyalgia is a chronic, musculoskeletal, non-inflammatory pain disorder. Patients frequently suffer from sleep disturbances, headaches, anxiety, morning stiffness, and a poor sense of well-being. In many cases, it takes years to properly diagnose fibromyalgia. Pharmacists can play a key role in treating patients with fibromyalgia. They can provide valuable counseling on topics such as lifestyle modifications and treatment options for fibromyalgia. Simple changes can often lead to considerable symptom improvement. Once fibromyalgia has been diagnosed, the pharmacist can provide counseling about managing comorbidities, drug contraindications, and general safety issues.
•Outline the signs and symptoms of fibromyalgia to include the impact on quality of life.
